Indian out-of-favour fast bowler Umesh Yadav has praised RR youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s effortless shot-hitting ability and is impressed by his steadfast attitude.
This edition of the IPL has indeed been a batsman’s bastion, as batsmen from different teams, whether of Indian or foreign origin, have dominated with the bat. After scoring runs with the bat, the race for the Orange Cap has become intense, but one name that has consistently been a major attraction in that list is young Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old prodigy Suryavanshi has been their best batsman and recently he made headlines again for his mammoth century in his last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Even world class bowlers bow before his six-hitting ability.
“Confidence is the core of his (Vaibhav) batting,” claimed Umesh Yadav on the young RR batsman.
Speaking to Umesh Yadav on RevSportz, the presenter asked him about his thoughts on Vaibhav Suryavanshi and how he has dominated big names like Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
The claim was made after making impressive starts against every bowler he has faced in this edition of the tournament. He has been indifferent to the reputation of any big player and their tremendous records.
“Self-confidence is the core of his (Vaibhav’s) batting, which shapes both his approach and execution at the crease. He is particularly strong against length deliveries and has developed the ability to dominate the mid-on to mid-wicket area with authority,” the Indian fast bowler said.
Umesh Yadav told which qualities enhance the potential of Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Citing his run-scoring, Umesh praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s excellent ball-striking ability. He further claimed that the cricketer has mastered the art of clearing the leg-side fence, and the natural physical energy he possesses due to his age makes the shots more effortless and elegant.
“His good technique, impressive bat speed and solid base enable him to generate remarkable power, making big shots look easy. Considering he is only 15 years old, his natural physical energy further enhances this ability.
Umesh Yadav further added, “Along with his skills, what is most important is his balance, stance and overall stability, which provides a strong foundation for consistent performances.”
“His mindset reflects clarity and intention.” Umesh tells the biggest positive thing about Suryavanshi as a batsman.
The unheralded pacer displayed his mindset and clarity of thought while batting against any opponent. Suryavanshi has actually been unconcerned about which bowler he faces as he has never backed down due to the reputation of these bowlers.
“More importantly, his mindset reflects clarity and intent – he knows the kind of player he wants to be and what style he needs to succeed. This confidence is strengthened by rigorous and purposeful practice. What is impressive is that he is unperturbed by the reputation of the bowler,” Umesh concluded.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, just 15 years old, has been backed by many to make a place in Team India at the beginning of his career, as many have cited a huge potential for international cricket in this young player, who has already taken U19 cricket by storm.
