Valve unveiled the Steam Controller in November, and it didn’t have an official release date or price until now. Thankfully, the company has finally revealed these details today.
The Steam Controller will be available on May 4th on the Steam Store for $99 / €99. The Steam Controller comes with magnetic thumbsticks, a full set of inputs “to play your entire Steam library”, four haptic motors “for high definition rumble”, and an 8.39Wh battery that should last over 35 hours on a single charge.
The Steam Controller Puck in the box enables plug-and-play low-latency wireless connections as well as easy magnetic charging. The Steam Controller can also be connected via Bluetooth and USB, by the way, you don’t need to use the puck.
The Steam Controller works with the Steam Machine as well as Windows, Mac, and Linux computers and tablets and smartphones running the Steam or Steam Link app. It also supports the Steam Deck, whether it’s docked or not. The Steam Controller can be tracked by the Steam Frame’s cameras so you can use it to play non-VR games on the virtual screen.
