TL;DR
- Google Wallet is working on Aadhaar card support in India, citing its lack of integration despite rivals like Samsung Wallet already offering the feature.
- We also see a redesigned split FAB with “Add to Wallet” and “See more” buttons that can provide quick access to document search and management features.
Update, April 28, 2026 (04:28 am ET): Google has officially announced Google Wallet now supports Aadhaar verifiable credentials in India. This confirms our finding from the beginning of the year.
Original article, January 12, 2026 (05:52 am ET): Google Wallet is slowly expanding its utility as a one-stop shop for storing all your important documents, including everything from credit cards to transit cards and even identity cards, along with everything else. Now we’ve seen that Google Wallet is working on supporting Aadhaar cards in India, along with a new split-style FAB that may connect to the search feature seen earlier.
Google Wallet in India may soon get support for Aadhaar
Google Wallet was relaunched in India in 2024 as a means to store travel cards and identity documents. Currently, Google Wallet does not support Aadhaar card, India’s primary government-issued identity card, while rival solutions like Samsung Wallet have been supporting the feature for a long time. This may change soon, as we have seen new mentions of Aadhaar card in Google Wallet v25.1.850929474:

Google Wallet may also get a UI update
Within the same Google Wallet app version, we’ve seen a new split-style, centered FAB (floating action button) that replaces the single FAB on the right.
In the current version, a single FAB opens add to wallet Screen, where you can add passes, ID and other documents to your wallet. In the upcoming split-style FAB, the plus button opens the same add to wallet Screen. See more The option doesn’t currently do anything, but we’ve seen strings that give us more hints about what it could do:
code
Explore your new Wallet
Tap View more" to manage what's on home, search your Wallet, and see all your payment methods, passes and activity"
We’ve previously seen Google Wallet working on a search feature, and this could be another entry point for it in addition to the search button (which hasn’t debuted yet). We will keep you updated when we get more information about it.
