The Toronto Tempo will begin their historic journey as Canada’s first Women’s National Basketball Association team with pre-season games at home.
According to The Canadian Press, the Tempo will face the Connecticut Sun in their opening pre-season match at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
The expansion side recently completed its inaugural draft and will compete in the Eastern Conference this season under head coach Sandy Brondello.
Toronto is set to open its regular season home schedule on May 8 against the Washington Mystics.
The team will continue pre-season action this weekend against the Minnesota Lynx before finalizing its roster, which will be reduced from 19 players to 12.
Canadian guard Kia Nurse said the squad is currently ready. The debut of the Tempo marks a significant milestone for professional women’s basketball in Canada.
