Apple is reportedly planning a major camera overhaul for iPhone users with its upcoming iOS 27 update, focused on deeper integration of its Visual Intelligence AI feature and an enhanced Siri experience.
According to a report on Wednesday Apple sources told Bloomberg managing editor Mark Gurman that iPhone users can expect visual intelligence to be integrated into photo and video modes with the new update.
CNET initially reported this Siri overhaul rumored in March after Apple delayed AI Initiative For Siri.
The news comes as Apple prepares for its annual conference in June, the 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference, where the company plans to reveal the iOS 27 update. The update will also improve Siri’s ability to control the iPhone camera, allowing users to more easily switch between modes like photo, video, and portrait, Bloomberg reports.
The initial rumor in March said that the new Siri would function as a standalone AI chatbot rather than a built-in tool.
Apple introduced it visual intelligence With feature in 2024 iPhone 16Enables customers to extract and analyze information directly from images.
Upcoming updates are expected to expand image-based capabilities, potentially allowing users to connect with ChatGPT to ask questions about visual content and scan nutrition labels for diet tracking purposes.
According to Bloomberg, additional announcements anticipated at WWDC 2026 could include new Siri-focused hardware products, such as smart glasses, a wearable pendant, and updated AirPods designed to analyze and interpret the surrounding environment.
Apple has not confirmed these features of iOS 27.
An Apple representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
