Google recently announced that it is now releasing an update for Gemini that will allow users To generate complete documents and filesWhich will reportedly work just like any man-made electronic file. With Prompts, users can now create Microsoft Word, Excel, PDF, Google Docs files, and more.
Google says this makes it easier for users to organize their ideas into finished documents, reducing the time spent preparing and formatting documents. According to the company:
Instead of copying, pasting, and reformatting, this update will allow you to easily transfer your work between different applications. Export your budget proposal to a Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) file, organize loose ideas into a bulleted draft or consolidate a long collaboration into a single-page PDF or Microsoft Word (.docx).
Once generated, users will be able to save the file directly to their device, or share it to their Google Drive folder. The new feature will work with a variety of file formats including Google Workspace files (Docs, Sheets and Slides), .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .csv, LaTeX, Plain Text (TXT), Rich Text Format (RTF) and Markdown (MD). This feature is now available worldwide.
