Apple’s fall iPhone lineup this year is rumored to revolve around the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra. Here are the three biggest feature differences – not counting price – that may sway your upgrade decision.
Form factor: traditional vs. foldable

This difference is the most obvious, but it’s worth pointing out because it’s also the most important.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will feature the same basic form factor that iPhones have had for years. They are rumored to have the same screen size and overall design as their predecessors. If you want a traditional iPhone-like experience, the iPhone 18 Pro will be the perfect choice for you.
The iPhone Ultra, meanwhile, will be Apple’s first foldable model. It has a radically different form factor, with an external display that is smaller and wider than the traditional iPhone, and an internal display that resembles the iPad mini.
Camera: Pro will be best

Apple has always included its best, most innovative camera technology in its Pro models. And this will continue to be true this year as well.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to feature many of the same camera features as the iPhone 18 Pro, with one big exception: it won’t have a telephoto camera.
Rumors indicate that you’ll still get the same main, ultra-wide, and front cameras on the iPhone Ultra as on the Pro line. But the telephoto lens will remain Pro-exclusive and is expected to get even better this year.
Performance: Both have A20 Pro chip, but content matters

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra are expected to feature the same A20 Pro chip. However, performance levels may vary slightly due to differences in design and materials.
The iPhone 18 Pro will use the same aluminum unibody design as the iPhone 17 Pro, and will also have a vapor chamber for cooling. Both of these changes give the iPhone 17 Pro better overall performance than its predecessor, as the iPhone is able to stay cool for tough tasks.
Meanwhile, the iPhone Ultra will have a sleek, titanium-based design like the iPhone Air, and is not expected to have a vapor chamber. So even though it will have the same chip, its performance may slow down when out in the sun, or during intensive tasks.
