Vaibhav Suryavanshi first came into public consciousness in 2024, when he scored a century on his Under-19 Test debut. Against Australia in Chennai, he completed his century in just 58 balls, making it the second fastest century ever in a Youth Test. At that time his age was only 13 years.
Later that year, Rajasthan Royals signed him ₹1.1 Crore, making him the youngest player to be signed in the IPL. As part of RR, he became the youngest player to score a T20 century as he scored the century in 35 balls in IPL 2025. Since then, records have flown off his bat as easily as sixes.
Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has now spoken about what the future could hold for Suryavanshi in the RR and IPL auctions.

Broad said Rajasthan Royals had taken a bold decision by signing the then 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
“Rajasthan Royals’ scouting system or the academy system – whatever they have done, it is fair game for him. I remember when they signed him in the auction – he was 14, maybe even 13 – and I thought it was a bit strange to bring someone so young into the team for top-level domestic cricket. It’s a lot of pressure, just to have him in the team for three years. What does that mean? It’s not like you can sign him on a 10-year contract; He can just leave, Mumbai Indians or something if he gets a chance,” Broad said.
“I mean, to be honest, when they go to retain their next player, he can go to the auction if he wants to,” he said.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has put all worries to rest in IPL 2026 by avoiding a case of the second season blues. In 9 innings, he has scored 400 runs at an average of 44.44 and a strike rate of 238. He has also scored 2 fifties and one century in this season.
All three of his half-centuries came in just 15 balls, while his century came in 36 balls. Currently, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is ranked third in the Orange Cap list, making it a very close race this season. He has won the Orange Cap several times this season.
His 37 sixes are also the highest this season.
