Cristiano Ronaldo scored for Al Nassr as they beat Al Ahly 2-0 in the Saudi Pro League on Wednesday.
He also achieved a historic and professional feat when the football star scored his 970th goal in the match.
Ronaldo’s team faced criticism over various allegations throughout the league. Earlier this month, several Al Ahly players complained that the team was receiving favorable treatment from referees during games.
In an interview after the win, Cristiano Ronaldo broke his silence on the growing criticism and said he would definitely express his disappointment at the end of the season. According to the Portuguese footballer, constant criticism of the Saudi Pro League has made the competitive environment negative.
“I think it’s not good for the league. Everyone complains. This is football, this is not a war. We know we have to fight, everyone wants to win. But not everything is allowed,” Ronaldo said.
He said, “I’m going to speak out at the end of the season because I’ve seen too many bad things.”
“A lot of players have complained, posting on Instagram, on Facebook, speaking about the refs, speaking about the league, speaking about the project. It’s not good. That’s not the goal of the league.”
According to Ronaldo, our aim is to compete with the best leagues in Europe and beyond. We need to analyze our progress but end the toxic criticism as it does not represent the true nature of football.
“It has been a tough season, not only on the field but also off the field. We know how much strength the other teams have but I will get the opportunity to speak at the end of the season,” the 41-year-old player said.
Despite the criticism and disappointment, Ronaldo is determined to help Al Nassr win their first title since 2019. He joined the club in December 2022.
