Robert Downey Jr. has finally revealed why he agreed to play the villain in the upcoming MCU movie Avengers: Doomsday.
The 61-year-old actor was recently seen conversation for our daughter Podcast, where he spoke candidly about his decision to return to the MCU as Doctor Doom.
“After playing Tony Stark for so many years, I’m coming back to Marvel again. Without Lewis Strauss and without the support of (Christopher) Nolan, it wouldn’t be as meaningful to say, ‘Oh yes, I’m going to hit that button again, but now I’m going to do it in this style,'” Robert explained.
“But really, the interesting thing for me is to get a deeper understanding of what happens backstage in the world, not to be afraid of the scale,” he adds.

Elsewhere in the interview, Robert said that “I think appreciation for validation is also demonstrated in sweat. So I worked hard to make sure I was so prepared. Sidney Lumet would have been absolutely happy with the way I came on set.”
