TL;DR
- Spotify will begin verifying artist profiles that they actually represent the artists they claim to be.
- Eligible profiles will get a new badge verified by Spotify.
- All artist profiles, whether verified or not, will also include new AI-generated summaries.
Spotify is rolling out a new verified status. Soon, profiles that the platform has confirmed represent real, human artists will get a Spotify Verified badge with a green checkmark icon. You won’t see the badge on any AI profiles – at least not right now.
In a blog post Announcing the initiative, Spotify says that artist profiles that meet certain criteria will be eligible for the Verified badge. To be verified, an artist must comply with Spotify’s policies and “must have a recognizable artist presence both on and off the stage.”

While AI profiles won’t be eligible for verification (“at launch,” anyway), the new badge is more about verifying profiles that they are indeed the artists they claim to be, rather than removing AI-generated music. The review process will focus on profiles with sustained interest over time, and Spotify specifically says it is not prioritizing reviews of “content farms.”
Still, it looks like the scope of the program will be impressive. Spotify says that at launch, “more than 99% of artists that Spotify listeners actively discover” will be verified.
Spotify also announced a new artist details section that will be in every artist profile, regardless of whether they are verified or not. Here, you’ll see AI-summarized information about the artist that Spotify has, including details about their touring activity, release history, and more.
Both Spotify-verified badges and AI-generated artist summaries will begin rolling out in the “coming weeks.”
