Rumors of a possible internal rift at Mumbai Indians (MI) have intensified ever since Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma left the team’s scheduled travel plans. Viral posts on social media showing both players leaving the Mumbai airport for Chennai separately have sparked discussion during a tough IPL season for the team.
Mumbai Indians, captained by Hardik Pandya, are struggling in the tournament. They are currently placed ninth in the 10-team points table. With six losses in eight matches, the team now faces a must-win situation and needs six consecutive wins to reach the 16-point mark required for playoff qualification.

Rohit Sharma is doubtful for the upcoming match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to a right hamstring strain he suffered against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Before retiring hurt after scoring 19 runs, he had scored 137 runs in four matches at an average of 45.67 and a strike rate of 165.06.
He scored 78 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), added 35 against Delhi Capitals (DC) and scored 5 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) before getting injured against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 12 April.
Jasprit Bumrah had his worst IPL season as Mumbai Indians struggled
Jasprit Bumrah is going through his worst IPL season. In eight matches, he has taken only two wickets at a bowling average of 132.00 and a strike rate of 90.00, while conceding runs at an economy rate of 8.80.
He was wicketless in his first five matches against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Delhi Capitals (DC), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). Later Bumrah took two wickets but again he did not get any wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Rohit Sharma’s absence has also affected Mumbai Indians. The team has tried different combinations with Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton. Although Rickelton scored a century of 123, the team still suffered heavy defeats, including a 103-run loss to CSK and failing to defend 243 against SRH.
Mumbai Indians will face important upcoming matches
Mumbai Indians will have to win the upcoming matches to keep their season alive. They will take on Chennai Super Kings on May 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. They will then return home to play Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium on May 4.
The Hardik Pandya-led team will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 10 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium. They will then face Punjab Kings on May 14 at the HPCA Stadium, where they must win to stay in the competition.
In their final league matches, Mumbai Indians will travel to Eden Gardens to face Kolkata Knight Riders on May 20. They will then return home to play Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on May 24, with key players like Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah expected to find form.
