On Monday on my birthday, Ryan, the boys, and I curled up on my bed for a birthday family movie night. On the docket was Little Giants, which was Ryan’s childhood favorite and he was confident our kids would enjoy it because it wasn’t too scary and fit in perfectly with their current obsession with all things football. I had never seen it before and enjoyed the movie a lot, but not as much as our kids, who were very happy to see it!
When I shared our boys’ new love for Little Giants on Instagram yesterday, I shared that one of the reasons they loved it was because it wasn’t scary at all. Our kids aren’t exactly brave when it comes to movies and shows (sometimes even ominous music is enough to scare them) and I’ve had a lot of DMs from you guys who have kids the same way. This inspired me to ask for your recommendations for movies your kids will enjoy that won’t scare our little ones, who may be a little more sensitive to scary stuff. I got so many great suggestions! I wanted to compile them into one blog post today so it’s easy to reference the next time you’re looking for a really scary movie to watch with young kids.
The list below comes from your recommendations but I have added an asterisk
Based on movies that I have added myself or based on movies that I agree with your instructions that our boys have watched and liked so you can easily see the movies that I stand by. I hope this list is helpful the next time you’re ready to eat some popcorn and sit on the couch with your kids!
