According to a new rumor, Samsung is currently working on a Galaxy Book branded laptop that will run on Android 17 with One UI 9. Before you think this is crazy, remember that Google itself is in the (very long) process of merging ChromeOS with Android. What will come out of that is Aluminum OS, itself based on Android.
Now it’s unclear whether these Samsung laptops will actually run on it, or if the Korean company is developing its own One UI 9 layer for laptops so that it can be easily layered on top of the normal phone-oriented Android 17. Unfortunately, the report doesn’t go into any such details.
But it tells us that there will be a whole range of these Android-powered Galaxy Books, with low-end, mid-range, and even flagship models with “very attractive designs,” whatever that means in real life.
You certainly won’t be surprised to hear that the upcoming laptops will be packed with Galaxy AI features, right? As far as One UI 9 for laptops is concerned, we’re thinking it will likely be an upgraded version of DeX (and looks too). It’s unclear when these devices are arriving, but they could arrive before the end of the year. If this is the timeline, expect to hear a lot more about them in the coming weeks and months.
