We’ve spent the night discussing the most notable red carpet looks from the 2026 Met Gala. The theme of the 2026 exhibition is “Costume Art” shared by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to examine “the centrality of the dressed body”. Now that the red carpet is over, it’s clear that some looks stuck to the theme, while others strayed. Theme or not, there are top looks that stand out as the best evening wear.
Starting off with some theme-based looks, Hailey Bieber wore a Saint Laurent dress that referenced the 1969 haute couture collection in collaboration with Claire LaLanne, which famously featured a gilded body cast worn over a diaphanous dress. Gracie Abrams also wore an art-forward look by Mathieu Blazy for Chanel, which took Gustav Klimt as inspiration.
