Indian government opens doors for Pakistani teams in global events; There will be a ban on bilateral relations
An office memorandum has been issued by the Sports Ministry stating that there will be a facilitated visa regime for Pakistani athletes and officials, and they can compete on Indian soil in international competitions.
However, the government also confirmed that there will be no bilateral relations between the two countries and India will neither travel to Pakistan nor allow its players to participate in bilateral events.
“Pakistani players and teams will be able to participate in multilateral events organized by India. As far as bilateral sporting events in each other’s country are concerned, Indian teams will not participate in competitions in Pakistan. Nor will we allow Pakistani teams to play in India. We are guided by the practices of international sporting bodies and the interest of our own players.”
