This is expected to be the Unpacked event where the company will unveil its next foldable device. Samsung usually holds these events in Korea or the US, so the London event will be a bit different.
However, if the rumored date proves to be accurate, we may not get official confirmation until early July.

What to expect from Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked?
Samsung usually launches its new foldable phones in the summer and we are expecting the same this year. If the rumors continue, Samsung could be lining up four foldable phones for us.
The headline device will likely be Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. Samsung made some notable design changes with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 last year, making it wider, thinner, and lighter, and it looks like the company will continue with a similar design this time around. This means you can expect a flat-edged, more refined look on the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
While there may not be any major visual redesign, one area where Samsung hopes to improve is the hinge and crease. Oppo has already taken things further with a nearly creaseless display on the Find N6, and Samsung may follow suit with barely visible creases when it comes to the Fold 8.
On the hardware side, some meaningful upgrades are expected. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 could feature a larger 5,000mAh battery, which would be a big step up from the previous model, with support for 45W fast charging. Samsung is also expected to stick with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset to power the device.
Additionally, you can also expect Samsung to showcase its regular Galaxy Z Flip 8 at the event. While there aren’t expected to be any major changes to the design, rumors suggest a slightly slimmer build when it emerges, along with internal upgrades like the Exynos 2600 chipset, the same one used in the international Galaxy S26.
Along with this, Samsung may also introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE, which may offer a similar experience at a lower price.
However, the real talking point of the event may not be these general upgrades, but the new form factor Samsung is reportedly preparing to introduce.
With Apple expected to enter the foldable smartphone arena in 2026, it seems Samsung has already taken notice. Apart from the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, Samsung is also expected to introduce a new wide fold device to compete with Apple’s foldable iPhone.
Samsung did something similar with the Galaxy S25 Edge last year ahead of the rumored iPhone Air, and it looks like it’s taking a similar approach again.
A key difference for Apple’s foldable is expected to be a wider form factor, which could manifest in a display closer to that of the iPad mini. Samsung’s Wide Fold is also rumored to follow a similar idea. It may have a smaller, wider design with a wider cover display and open to a 4:3 aspect ratio, similar to a tablet.
This new foldable is also expected to feature better crease treatment like other Samsung foldables this year. The report suggests a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner display when revealed. It is also expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and pack a 4,800mAh battery.
Talking about the camera, the wide fold is expected to have a dual-camera setup. But the main attraction here will probably be the tablet-like experience when it comes out. That said, it remains to be seen how practical it will be for everyday use, especially with the wider cover display that can be hard to use with one hand when folded.
Samsung has typically used its summer Galaxy Unpacked event to launch new wearables, and it looks like this year may be no different, with the Galaxy Watch 9 expected to launch alongside new foldables. However, if you are expecting a major upgrade, there are no major changes reported yet.
As in past years, Android Central will likely be present at the Galaxy Unpacked event, bringing you full coverage and live updates from the keynote. We’ll also be running a live blog during the event, so you can follow Samsung as it unveils its new phones in real time.
