He was speaking shortly after a closed-door briefing by Rosemary DiCarlo, the Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacekeeping Affairs. security council The meeting on Monday focused on missile and drone attacks on the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The UAE said Iran was responsible for the attacks but Tehran denied involvement on Tuesday.

“Ms. DiCarlo underlined that since the beginning of the conflict on 28 February, the Secretary-General has condemned all unlawful attacks in the Middle East and beyond,” He said.

    ongoing diplomatic engagement

Apart from this, UN Chief Antonio Guterres has also emphasized that Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) “Must be respected and civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected.”

The resolution, adopted in March, came in the wake of Iranian attacks on several neighboring countries.

Mr Dujarric said the secretary-general’s personal envoy for the Middle East conflict, Jean Arnault, continues diplomatic consultations in the region and was due to meet the Turkish foreign minister on Wednesday.

He emphasized that “The United Nations is committed to supporting all efforts aimed at a comprehensive and durable solution to this conflict”

    Threat to regional security: Bahrain

Bahrain had requested the Security Council meeting following Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates, which hit an oil terminal in Fujairah, causing damage and civilian casualties.

Before the meeting, the ambassadors of both the countries held a press conference.

Bahraini Ambassador Jamal Fares Alrowei said the “heinous attacks” were “part of a growing pattern of deliberate and destabilizing conduct that threatens the security and stability of the Gulf region.”

They also flagged the “clear violation” of resolution 2817 (2026) “and Iran’s demonstrated continued non-compliance with that resolution.”

    No ‘isolated incident’: UAE

UAE Ambassador Mohammad Abushab told reporters that Iran launched 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones), resulting in a fire in the Fujairah oil industry zone, affecting vital civilian energy infrastructure.

He said, “The UAE’s air defenses successfully intercepted most of these threats, limiting the damage. Nevertheless, three civilians were injured.”

He stressed that “this was not an isolated incident” because since February 28, when the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz began, the UAE has “intercepted more than 500 ballistic missiles, about 30 cruise missiles and more than 2,000 UAVs launched from Iran”.

    Ships are still under attack

Additionally, attacks on commercial vessels in key maritime corridors continue.

“And what happens in the Strait of Hormuz doesn’t stay in the Strait of Hormuz,” he said. “It impacts energy markets, supply chains, food prices and economic stability around the world.”

The UAE ambassador called on the Security Council to “act decisively in response to Iran’s violations and the clear threat they pose to international peace and security,” adding, “That is why this moment matters.”

meanwhile, International Maritime Organization (IOM) Confirmed A French ship, the San Antonio, was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, injuring eight sailors.

The agency has so far confirmed 32 incidents and 10 deaths.
