Rumors of small dynamic islands are nothing new, but there has been a lot of speculation about it in relation to the iPhone 18 Pro.
Adding fuel to the fire are claims that CAD images show a small dynamic island, but we reiterate our earlier suspicions…
There have been multiple reports suggesting that the Dynamic Island may shrink in this year’s iPhone 18 Pro, and potentially in other models as well.
For the iPhone 18 series, the black bezels remain unchanged; Only the dynamic island has been reduced in size, while the bezels themselves remain identical to the iPhone 17 series.
However, the two reports confirming this come from sketchy accounts. One was X user with no track record whatsoever and the other appeared to be a fraudster.
An account named Majin Boo was a reliable source of Apple leaks before it disappeared. However, it is unclear whether this represents a comeback or a ruse. The fact that the website is still offline may point to the latter being more likely, and the idea that Apple would rename it Nano Island seems somewhat of a stretch.
Another post by @earlyappleleaks It’s trending this week due to its inclusion of claimed CAD images, but we’ll note again that these are easily faked and there’s no reason to give them any credibility.
An important distinction should be made here: As we’ve said before, we’re not dismissing this idea, just saying that there’s no solid evidence for it yet.
Apple undoubtedly wants to shrink the size of the dynamic island over time before it can eventually progress to an all-screen display with both the Face ID module and front-facing camera embedded beneath the screen.
An attempt to reduce the aperture size in the iPhone 18 Pro would not be a surprise, and previous reports have also suggested it. However, there is no reason yet to see these latest claims as providing further evidence.
CAD images are extremely easy to counterfeit, so the situation has not changed.
