We’re still in the midst of spring and the weird weather that comes with it, but it’s definitely never too early to start thinking about (and actually wearing) summer shoes. Without the functionality to keep in mind when selecting shoes during other seasons, in my opinion, summer and the hot weather that comes with it makes it the best season for shoes. In summer, winter-friendly details can be replaced by embellishments, colors, interesting heel shapes and nice materials like satin and raffia. And if you were wondering what summer is it The shoes would be, I have one of the first ones to put on your radar, and it was worn by Jennie Kim in NYC for the Met Gala this week.
The shoe is a wedge-heel thong sandal, and the trend-forward version is the one with a low, narrow wedge heel. Consider this the 2026 version of that kitten-heel flip-flop everyone was wearing last year. In particular, Jenny wore Reformation Amelia Thong Wedge Sandal In elegant brown crocs, which are a perfect representation of the trend. The heel is exactly two inches high, the toe is square, the straps are the ideal thickness, and the footbed is comfortably padded. And if you’re looking for an outfit to wear with them, it doesn’t get any better than this.
I’ve been eyeing that wedge-heel thong Sandals are selling fast, and come June the dreaded sold out icon may appear next to your favorite sandal, so take my advice and order now. That’s what I’ll be doing for Jenny’s Reformation pair before the day is over.
