TL;DR
- Samsung could split its foldable chip strategy, with Snapdragon remaining on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup while the Flip 8 could go to either Snapdragon or Exynos.
- Regional chip differences are still possible, with Snapdragon potentially reserved for markets like the US.
A recent leak from tipster Erenkan Yilmaz xNow sheds some light on the situation, based on Samsung’s own code. The findings point to a mixed strategy.

The code suggests that both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the new Fold 8 Wide will use Snapdragon processors, specifically the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for the Galaxy, although this is still to be confirmed. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could use an Exynos or Snapdragon chip, and the code doesn’t show any final options yet.

The potential use of Qualcomm processors in the Fold 8 and new Fold 8 Wide aligns with Samsung’s general focus on performance in its larger devices. Using Snapdragon in the new “wide” models will also help avoid the problems that often come with first-generation products.
It is still unclear which chip the Flip 8 will use. Samsung may introduce Snapdragon in the US and Exynos elsewhere, or it may still be deciding. Since Samsung is showing more confidence in its own chips, there’s a good chance the Flip 8 could use the Exynos 2600 worldwide.
Still, nothing has been confirmed until Samsung’s Summer Unpacked event, which is expected to take place in July 2026. The price is also unknown. Except for the wider Fold 8 Wide model, there have been minor changes to the design of the Fold 8 and Flip 8.
