Billie Eilish has insisted that there is nothing wrong with fans watching shows via their phones, arguing that this is how her generation experiences music.
In their new 3D concert film Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, The 24-year-old pop star is surrounded by fans filming every moment and she insists it’s just a modern concert experience.
talking to NME, Singer said, “I just think that’s the way it is. My generation, and the generations below, we love to film things. I just film and take pictures of things – all the time.”
She said she grew up doing exactly the same thing when she was headlining in arenas, adding, “When I was younger and would go to concerts or festivals, I would film every single minute of it – and then I would watch every single video I took until I couldn’t even remember the audio of the crowd.”
“I think it’s not worth the bullshit. An important part of the culture is that we’re all on our phones! It keeps us connected. It happens!” Billy added.
Billie also stressed that the internet is the reason she gained a global fan following after her song went viral ocean eyes In 2015.
“Without the Internet I wouldn’t have my career. I wouldn’t have the fans. Without the Internet I wouldn’t have the connections that I have,” he said.
Moving away from the debate over phone usage, the 22-year-old confirmed that she is already working on her next album, the follow-up to 2024. Spank me hard and soft.
Billie Eilish also revealed that she is “right in the middle” of the new project and is spending most of her time in the studio, teasing, “We’re working on new music. It’s happening. It’ll be a second but we’re deep in album mode and it’s really fun.”
