In this week’s announcement, Google said vertical post Gemini’s email drafting assistant, “Help Me Write,” is getting two important personalization updates. The first (and, honestly, most interesting) update this week is “Tone and Style Personalization” to help Gemini. Google says that when it’s activated, the AI can draft emails for you “that match the tone and style of emails you’ve previously written.”
Basically, it’s like you’re writing it, but not really. The company provides a quick view of this before and after, showing just how “hardened” the AI is (today), you could say. With this personalization upgrade, it will look at how you’ve written things before and try to replicate that. Additionally, AI will start doing more of the work when drafting emails for you.
“Topic contextualization” is Google’s official term for AI’s understanding of when to leverage your connected workspace apps to pull information. Following your query, the AI will use “context” from apps like Drive (and details shared in previous emails) to fill out the rest of the message. Google intends for this to be helpful, as users won’t have to switch between apps frequently.
Google believes this will be useful for users preparing emails about project introductions, potential partnerships, and more.

These updates for “Help Me Write” in Gmail are being rolled out to Business, Enterprise, Consumer (Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra), and Education (add-on) customers. Google says it may take up to 15 days for users of Rapid and Scheduled Release domains to see it.
