Kate Middleton revealed on Friday that she has taken up paddle boarding and plays the sport with her parents as she accompanied Prince William to a Buckingham Palace party.
She was speaking to guests at a garden party she hosted on behalf of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Princess Kate said that paddle is a great sport for non-tennis players and that she plays it with her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, although tennis is her favorite sport.
This was the second garden party at the palace in a week. King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted their first garden party of the summer on Wednesday.
According to the official website of the royal family, each year, more than 30,000 guests are invited to spend a relaxing summer afternoon in the beautiful gardens of Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
“Garden parties are an important way for members of the royal family to speak to a wide range of people from all walks of life, all of whom have made a positive impact in their communities.”
The website says, “In the summer, the Sovereign traditionally hosts three garden parties at Buckingham Palace, and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. Historically, garden parties have replaced the first-attended presentation parties, and have evolved as a way of recognizing and rewarding public service.”
