The National Anti-Doping Agency, NADA, has issued a notice raising questions over the whereabouts of two Indian cricketers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma, who missed their doping tests.
The case involves Indian youth Yashasvi, who is currently a part of the IPL for his franchise Rajasthan Royals. Same allegations have been made against female cricketer Shefali Verma, who played an important role in India’s victory in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.
NADA seeks clarification from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma on missed dope test
With NADA likely to test players registered under the Registered Testing Pool (RTP), both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shefali Verma, being such players, will have to register a share of the day and venue for dope testing with NADA.
Any athlete who misses three tests within a 12-month period Whereabouts Failure Act has been found guilty of anti-doping rule violations. However, both the Indian cricketers will be given a chance to explain the reason behind their missing Test.
However, as per the rules, if the athlete is unable to prove his innocence before the NADA hearing panel, he could face a ban of up to two years. A ban on either of these two young cricketers would be a big loss to the cricket world.
