(Worthy News) – The Trump administration on Friday released the first batch of previously classified government documents, videos and photographs related to unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), opening up decades of mysterious military and government reports to public scrutiny.
The files were published through a new transparency initiative called PURSUE, after President Donald Trump ordered agencies to declassify records involving “extraterrestrial life, unusual events and unidentified objects.” Trump criticized the previous administration for maintaining secrecy over the issue, saying Americans should now be able to decide for themselves “What’s going on here?”
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that the material had been “hidden behind classification for too long” and that public disclosure had taken too long.
The initial release includes more than 160 files from the Pentagon, FBI, NASA, State Department, and other agencies. These include Apollo-era astronaut transcripts, military reports, witness testimony, and photographs, including an Apollo 17 image showing three unidentified objects in a triangular formation. Other documents describe sightings near US military operations in Iraq, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Greece, including reports of objects making sudden sharp turns and making unusual movements.
An FBI report from 2023 details a drone operator’s description of seeing a glowing “linear object” that was visible for several seconds before disappearing.
The Pentagon cautioned that many of the reports remain unresolved and that details reflect witnesses’ interpretations rather than confirmed findings. Officials stressed that additional documents will be gradually released in the coming weeks.
The revelations also revived comments earlier this year from Vice President J.D. Vance, who said during a podcast interview that he once believed aliens might actually be “monsters,” reflecting a growing public fascination with the spiritual and unexplained dimensions of the phenomenon.
Congressional supporters of UFO transparency welcomed the release, while experts warned that some sightings could ultimately be explained by advanced military technology, optical distortions or incomplete data. Still, the administration’s move has thrust one of America’s longest-standing mysteries back into the national spotlight.
