Eva Mendes is advocating for legislation to protect children from harm online on a special day for mothers.
The actress, who shares two daughters with her longtime partner, actor Ryan Gosling, wrote a note to moms around the world on her Instagram account on Saturday, warning them about the harm children can face online.
As the compassionate mom speaks out to create legal channels to protect children online, she wrote, “Moms are losing their kids to the harms of social media, and instead of breaking down, they’re turning their grief into action. For your kids, and for me.”
The actress added, “Given the universal unconditional love a mother feels for her child, we can stand in solidarity with her and sign her Mother’s Day card to say just that to bipartisan lawmakers: Protect our children.”
She ended her caption prompting her followers to sign a card supporting these measures, with Eva saying, “Please pass comprehensive legislation this year that will protect them from harm online.”
Eva also added a photo to the carousel, writing, “This Mother’s Day, leave flowers, leave chocolates, keep kids safe online.”
This comes after the actress, who revealed she has a “non-verbal agreement” with Ryan to be a stay-at-home mother to his two daughters, wrote a book for children titled Desi, aunty, and never ending worries.
