King Charles has stepped forward to honor one of Britain’s greatest voices for the natural world, Sir David Attenborough, who turns 100 on May 8.
To celebrate this special day the King sent his handwritten message of congratulations straight from Balmoral Castle to London “just in time for the beloved naturalist on her big day.”
According to the Royal Family’s official website, the short title is A very special delivery, And it is produced by BBC Studios’ world-renowned Natural History Unit.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace also said, “Her Majesty was delighted to attend this special tribute to a man who has shared her lifelong commitment to the natural world, and followed each stage of the filming process with great interest. Her only regret was not being able to meet Lily, the magical barn owl, in person.”
He also referenced Queen Camilla’s thoughts, adding, “Her Majesty was particularly impressed that her mischievous Molly was invited to make a cameo appearance and had a ready-made selection of dog treats to help with a willing performance on the day. The King and Queen send Sir David their warmest wishes for his special night and hope he will enjoy the resulting film as much as they enjoyed making it.”
