Princess Eugenie’s pregnancy announcement has been seen as a joyous moment for the York family after a difficult time filled with controversy over her parents, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
The princess confirmed on Monday that she is expecting her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank, while Buckingham Palace said King Charles is “delighted” with the news.
Royal expert Jenny Bond said the royal children always bring joy and positivity, especially after the “stress” the family faced last year.
She also said that the king’s warm response shows that he still cares deeply for his nieces, despite the scandals involving their parents.
Speaking to The Mirror, she said: “Royal babies are always joyous events – who doesn’t love the innocence of a new life, devoid of any scandal or controversy?
“So I think most rational people would be wishing well for Eugenie – especially after the stress of last year.
“And the King has made it clear that he is happy and supports the idea that he still has affection for his nieces despite the scandals surrounding their parents.”
