    listen to devotion

(Jesus said) “Because I live, you shall also live.”
    John 14:19

    gift of life

The human body struggles to survive. It has been given the precious gift of life and it does not let that gift go easily. And hence, it fights infections. This develops immunity. It heals when injured, cut or broken. In severe conditions, it will transfer energy and nutrients to more integral parts of the body. The human body is a wonderful creation of God. Add medical advances in technology and the knowledge that God has given us, and the human body can live longer than in previous generations.

Although all this is true, the body eventually reaches a point where life almost ceases. There will come a time for all of us when the body will no longer be able to heal itself, and no medical technology or skill will be able to prolong our lives. so what? Is this it?

no way! It doesn’t matter how long or short our life on earth is, no matter how full or empty we make it, there is so much more after life on earth. And because of Jesus, we can have a very long and abundant life in heaven. Because of sin, Jesus knew that we are all doomed to a short life on earth followed by eternal suffering. He didn’t want that for us, and so He came here to be our Substitute and Savior. Jesus lived a perfect life for us and died an innocent death on the cross so that our sins could be paid for and forgiven. Then He rose from the dead to conquer death and open the door for us to eternal life in heaven.

And now He says to you, I live, therefore you also shall live. Through faith in Jesus, when we leave this world, we will go to a place that is much better. We will live forever in heaven – a place where there will be no more death, pain or suffering. A place where we will never grow old or our lives will never end.

    Prayer:

Dear Jesus, because you live, I will live too! Help me to look forward to the day when I will be with you forever. Amen.
