Police are investigating two recent home burglaries in Los Angeles in which the burglars were confronted by witnesses or scared off by a home alarm.
According to Los Angeles Police Officer Rosario Cervantes, at approximately 10:45 p.m. Sunday, LAPD officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 8200 block of Oakwood Avenue.
The residents were at home when two men entered the home, According to KTLA. The home alarm went off and the thieves fled before police arrived, the station reported. Police said that no items were taken from the house.
Cervantes said that around noon Friday, two men broke into a home in the 4200 block of Denny Avenue in Studio City.
Officials reached the spot but no one was there, he said. Officials have increased patrolling in the area.
A neighbor, Steven Calabro, said CBS News He took photographs of the thieves before they fled. They also attacked him with bear spray when he was trying to get them on camera. He said that he has given all the information to the police.
“Yeah, it’s hard. It’s horrible,” said Calabro. “I don’t recommend it.”
Detectives don’t know if the two incidents are related.
