The Legend of Zelda series has seen its fair share of unofficial ports to other platforms. Just last week, a developer ported The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap to PC. Now, GameCube and Wii Zelda games have been ported to various platforms, including Android.
a group was called twilight zone has released an unofficial port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Android, macOS, PC, Steam Deck, and iOS. The port, called Dusk, is a decompilation of the original game with the help of the Twilight Princess decompilation community. Interestingly, this port also uses the so-called Aurora compatibility layer to run GameCube and Wii titles on other, more modern platforms.

Installing the game on Android is very easy, but you will need the ISO file of the game. Simply download and install the Dusk app from the project’s GitHub page and then launch it. tap from here select disk image And select the ISO file of the game. The app will then attempt to verify the ISO file. For what it’s worth, my first ISO file didn’t pass verification, but I was still able to proceed. You can then choose between Classic and Dusk presets, with the latter offering graphical and quality-of-life tweaks. You’ll also need a physical controller once you actually get into the game, as this unofficial port doesn’t support touch input.

I tried this game on Vivo X300 Ultra, but it was full of texture glitches which made the game unplayable. Thankfully, the team notes on GitHub that it’s working to resolve “numerous issues” affecting devices with Qualcomm Adreno GPUs. Otherwise, the title ran temporarily fine on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2) and Vivo X300 Pro (MediaTek Dimensity 9500). I’m particularly glad to see that MediaTek-powered devices are supported, as they usually play second fiddle to Snapdragon devices when it comes to these bleeding-edge projects. I’m also happy to report that performance this time was very good.
Otherwise, the unofficial Twilight Princess port offers a wider variety of settings than the original version. This includes internal resolution scaling (up to 11,827 x 5,376), shadow resolution (up to 8x), unlocked frame rates, gyro targeting, a mirror mode to match the Wii version, minimal HUD options, cheats, and loads of other gameplay options.
However, this is actually not the first time that the game has been ported to Android. Nintendo released a version of the game on the NVIDIA Shield series in late 2010, but it was limited to China. So we’re glad the title is now available to more users. It also joins the unofficial Android ports of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.
