Move over, Chromebooks, Googlebooks are coming. This is correct – GoogleBooks. These are not just laptopYou see – they’re “Designed for Gemini Intelligence”, it seems like Google desperately wanted a name that sounded close enough to Apple Intelligence, but maybe we’re reading too much into it.

Anyway, Googlebooks will help Google move from “an operating system to an intelligence system”, and they feature the “best of Android” and Chrome OS. It seems like this is indeed the much-anticipated Aluminum OS, even though Google hasn’t called it that even once.

It will have Android apps and Google Play Store will host them. And of course you’ll get the Chrome browser. Google is only sharing a glimpse for now, and promises that it will reveal more details “later this year.” Googlebooks is “a new category of laptops originally created with the help of Gemini, designed to work seamlessly with the devices in your life and powered by premium hardware”.

You can move the cursor to access Gemini, which will provide quick contextual suggestions every time you point at something on your screen. You’ll also be able to create your own widgets using the text prompt.

It’s no surprise that Googlebooks will integrate so well with your Android phone. Your phone’s apps will be accessible on your Googlebook, and you’ll also get notifications from your phone that you can immediately take action on, right inside each app on your phone. You’ll be able to easily access files on Googlebooks directly from your phone through its file browser.

Google says it’s working with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to create the first Googlebooks and promises that each of them will be “built with premium craftsmanship and materials” and will come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Every Googlebook will feature the Globar pictured above, which Google bills as “a statement piece that’s both functional and beautiful.”
