Google says it has worked with Apple to let you wirelessly transfer passwords and home screen layouts from iOS to Android. This is great news and means you can now work much faster on your new Android phone.
“Your passwords, photos, messages, favorite apps, contacts, and even your homescreen layout can be wirelessly migrated from your iPhone to your new Android device,” the company explained in a blog post. It’s worth noting that Google already lets you transfer photos/videos, contacts, and apps wirelessly. However, Google support documentation Suggests that you previously needed a cable to transfer messages.
“This new wireless process, which also supports eSIM transfers, will first launch on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices this year,” the company said.
In any case, we’re glad to see that the iPhone to Android migration is getting easier. But we hope other Android OEMs are not far behind in gaining access to these wireless transfer improvements.
This isn’t the only major cross-platform news today either. Google has confirmed that it’s expanding Quick Share/AirDrop support to more Android manufacturers, as well as bringing Quick Share to third-party apps like WhatsApp.
