“I’ve got eight layers of blush on right now,” Maude Apatow tells me from her New York apartment. actor, director, and Who What Wear May Cover Star I just returned Prada Beauty’s weekend pop-up at Gansevoort PlazaIt’s the final stop on the multicity Prada Touch tour, and from the Zoom screen, I can see her drawstring bag and black jacket strewn across the crisp bed – the only evidence of haste in the bright, airy space. The sun of a flower on the window, and Apatow’s swooping bob Smooth as always, not flying looking. That said, her cheekbones appear quite pink, either turning red in the rush to get home or, as I discovered, turning red as gods after a few hours of finger painting. After all, Prada named it Touch Blush for a reason.

While eight layers is a bit much for her everyday glam, Apatow sometimes sandwiches a few blush shades in for more dimension. “I’ll apply a darker shade to the apples of my cheeks and then a lighter shade on top (cheekbones). This is only if I’m really getting fancy with it,” she says. Currently, she is wearing Prada Beauty’s Waterlilya bright fuchsia, and tulipSoft baby pink. However, usually, she taps on a bubblegum blush and calls it quits. “I gravitate towards bright pink, but I also love a nice dusty rose or a bronzier, deeper blush,” she says. “I always apply with my fingers. I find I’ve got a lot more control. I start at the apples of my cheeks and then just move upward—but not too much. I’ll try a snatched moment, but it doesn’t look as good as it does when other people do it.”

Blush can’t be compromised for an everyday glow, but when I ask about her favorite feature to enhance, her attention is drawn to her wide, round eyes. “I remember I applied mascara for a Halloween costume and my mom told me to look down while she was applying it,” she laughs. “I think I was the Bride of Frankenstein… I said, ‘Wow, I look amazing.'” Today, mascara remains a beauty-bag staple for her top And Lower eyelids to open his limbs as much as possible (polarization!). In terms of colors, she says, “I like dark brown.” “There’s prada dark brown mascara Which I am using. Its About Black. If you have brown eyes, it looks beautiful.”

Of course, you’ll get a lot looks with wonder Excitement, But Apatow told me that her character Lexi Howard would prefer to wear strong lips rather than extra-fluttery eyelashes. “tara langwho i work with ExcitementAnd I always try to do a lip with Lexie,” she notes. “It’s Lexie’s signature look over the years that we’ve shot the show.” As it turns out, it’s also Apatow’s own signature look. “I love a red lip. That’s my favorite look for going out,” she adds. (And she wears it well! Just look at the deep red lipstick) She dressed for Chloe after the party During Paris Fashion Week.)

However, when she’s not wearing a red lip, she’s wearing nothing but buttery tinted lip balm. “Wait, let me get it! It’s right here,” she offers before rummaging in her bag for her favorite Prada number. “It’s really transparent, so it’s not too intense,” she says, highlighting the mauve-brown hue.

Unless she’s going to an event or, you know, filming Blush-centric press materialsApatow kept her foundation minimal, opting for just a little concealer to cover precise areas. “I try not to wear too much makeup every day because I want to give my skin a chance to breathe,” she says. “A little goes a long way, especially with foundation. I went through a period where I had really thick, dark eyebrows and a lot of foundation and bronzer. I look at pictures and think maybe that wasn’t the right decision.”

RELATED – The overly-plucked “Instagram eyebrows” of 2016 haven’t spared anyone, but they’re arguably healthier than the tweezers-happy era of the ’90s. “(My mom’s) eyebrows never grew back. She’s like, ‘Don’t do what I did,'” Apatow shares. “But I also have very thick eyebrows, so sometimes, they need to be plucked.” There’s a fine line, like a balance between a healthy, vibrant flush and full-on blush blindness. However, seeing how Apatow’s skin radiates from my computer screen, I wonder if this There’s something to be said about the eight-layer-blush thing. Who knows, it may have inadvertently started a summer makeup trend.
