It seems the world isn’t that keen on Meghan Markle’s Montecito home, and this revelation has just been made by journalist Tom Sykes. Royalist Podcast.
According to him this view is mostly shared in his neighborhood because owning $14.65 million, which has now doubled in value and is worth ($29 million), makes him a ‘laughing stock’.
As part of his confession the author said, “I was in New York last week, and I was meeting someone who lived pretty close to him, and he told me that the house he has in Montecito is a laughing stock.”
“It’s kind of embarrassing because, of course, in America, if you’re a billionaire and you buy a house for $14 million, I mean, what’s the first thing you do? Tear it down, you know, or at least remodel it, you know?”
“And they’re still there spread around in a kitchen that looks straight out of the Olive Garden, you know, circa 1994.”
For those who don’t know about Meghan’s relationship with the house, she once admitted while speaking to The Cut that she felt ‘sad’ about not being able to afford it.
At the time she took a trip down memory lane trying to remember it and said, “We didn’t have jobs, so we weren’t going to look at this house. It wasn’t possible. It’s like when I was little and you were window shopping – it’s like, I don’t want to go look at all the things I can’t buy. It doesn’t feel good.”
