US artificial intelligence company OpenAI on Saturday reportedly said it has struck a partnership with the Maltese government, a significant step forward, to give all residents access to its ChatGPIT Plus service for a year.
The primary objective behind this initiative is to encourage residents to sign up for AI literacy courses.
according to reutersThe program will launch in May and is expected to gain momentum as more Maltese residents complete the free courses.
Meanwhile, citizens living in Malta will also have access to it.
OpenAI said in a statement: “We’re turning an unfamiliar concept into practical help for our families, students, and workers.”
It is noteworthy that Malta is the first country to launch such a programme. Only time will tell what will be the real success of the newly launched initiative. At present the company has not disclosed the financial details of the deal.
However, the success of the deal will depend on how effectively Malta residents learn to use AI during their year of free ChatGPT Plus access, as per the existing MoU agreement.
