Speaking to RTL broadcaster, Paris public prosecutor Laure Becuau said on Sunday that about 20 suspected victims had made themselves known after he urged potential victims in February to speak out.
While some were already known to investigators, he said, “new victims emerge who we didn’t know about at all.”
“There are about 10 of them,” he said, “The option we have chosen right now is to listen to these victims.”
“A certain number of them are abroad, so investigators have tried to organize suitable meetings for them to come to Paris,” the prosecutor said.
France also launched a human-trafficking investigation, after the United States Department of Justice released a trove of files from its investigation into the disgraced financier.
