King Charles and Queen Camilla began their annual visit to Northern Ireland with a cultural stop in Belfast.
The King and Queen were given a live musical welcome during their visit. Buckingham Palace released a video clip of the royal couple’s visit via the official Instagram handle of the British royal family.
The video clip showed Charles and Camilla visiting Thompson’s Dock, where they were introduced ahead of this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann celebration of traditional Irish music, dance and culture.
The description in the caption read: “A lively welcome to Belfast!”
“Starting their annual visit to Northern Ireland, the King and Queen attended a showcase of music and culture at Thompson’s Dock in Belfast,” the palace added.
Adding, “Founded in 1951, The Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is widely regarded as the world’s largest annual festival of traditional Irish music, song and dance. This August, the Fleadh will come to Belfast for the first time.”
“The King and Queen also heard about Titanic Distillers’ whiskey-making process. The distillery is housed within the restored Edwardian pumphouse that helped launch the famous ship,” he concluded.
This has come to light after King Charles’s meeting with the President of Ireland at Buckingham Palace on Monday. In a photo shared by the palace at the time, Charles and Catherine Connolly are seen shaking hands and posing for photos.
