Stephen Colbert has shared in detail what he’ll be doing after his late-night show ends.
For those unaware, CBS canceled Late Show with Stephen Colbert in July 2025, citing significant financial pressures and a sudden decline in the late-night viewing landscape, even though the show was winning the ratings race.
talked to colbert People magazine for its cover story, where he opened up about his plans after the show’s cancellation.
“I’m going to my brother’s wedding in Washington, D.C., my (eight) siblings and (their) husbands and wives are coming to the last show, and then we’ll all get on a train the next day and go to D.C. to go to Tommy’s wedding,” he told the outlet.

Since his focus would be on his personal life and family, particularly his younger brother Tommy, Colbert, along with his clan, would “get drunk and we would sing. We all think we have good voices. It’s a huge threat to our family, especially the men. It would be great.”
In addition to Tommy’s wedding, the 62-year-old American comedian and writer will be celebrating his son John Colbert’s college graduation.
Stephen Colbert said, “I’m glad that most of the week isn’t about me, (it’s) about the people I love more than myself – and I’m a big fan of them.”
