TL;DR
- The company has confirmed that the Clix Communicator will come with Android 17.
- The phone will also have a 4,450 mAh battery, which is more than the previously announced 4,000 mAh capacity.
- We’re expecting the Communicator to ship in Q4.
According to the roadmap Clix shared last month, the BlackBerry-style Clix Communicator is set to ship in the last quarter of the year. That plan also said the company would share more details about the communicator’s software starting this month, and today, it began doing so in a message sent to pre-ordering customers.
As reported DroidLifeClix sent out an email this morning to pre-order holders telling them that the Communicator will come with the latest Android 17. That version is currently only available in beta on Pixel and Galaxy devices, but given that it will be released well ahead of Communicator’s anticipated Q4 release window, it’s nice to have confirmation that the Clix is on the way.

The message also included details that the Communicator will come with a larger battery than initially announced. Clix previously said its phone would come with a 4,000 mAh cell, but according to today’s update, it will actually be much larger at 4,450 mAh.
Clix’s April roadmap also says the company will share more details about the phone this month, including details about its UI and “decisions made to make it feel clearly like a communicator.” We haven’t seen much of the phone in action yet, but Clix has previously said it will have “working units to show” by June.
Assuming Clicks is able to meet the deadlines made last month, Communicator will make its way to customers before the year ends. It will cost $499; you can Reserve yours now With $199 deposit.
