Mandy Moore has spoken out about her previous marriage to ex-husband Ryan Adams.
She made the comments on the May 19 episode of her podcast That Was Us, where she said her current husband, Taylor Goldsmith, had followed a traditional move when he proposed. She said that she had sought permission from his father before the marriage.
He said Adams did not do this when he married. “I had been engaged before, but the man didn’t ask my father,” Moore said.
He said that his father was influenced by Goldsmith’s approach. She said her father was also weird and told Goldsmith he didn’t need permission.
Moore married Ryan Adams in 2009 when she was 24 years old. They separated in 2015 and divorced in 2016.
In earlier interviews Moore has spoken in more detail about her first marriage. She has said that this relationship affected her music career and personal life.
She previously said that Adams was controlling and discouraging during their marriage. She also said that she felt isolated during that period of her life.
Adams has denied her allegations through his legal representative. Moore has said that she looks at that part of her life differently now.
She is currently married to Taylor Goldsmith and has children. He said that he feels like he is in a completely different place in his life now.
He said that looking back, past relationships seem distant and difficult to understand from the present perspective.
