Matthew Perry’s mother Suzanne Perry has criticized her late son’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa.
He read an emotional victim impact statement before Iwamasa was sentenced for helping supply the ketamine that ultimately killed the TV star in October 2023.
“He insisted on speaking at Matthew’s funeral,” the letter said, included in documents obtained by the court. page six, Reading.
“He clung to me and the family as if he was some good guy who tried to save Matthew.”
Suzanne said that after Iwamasa “killed” her son, he kept a close eye on him.
She wrote, “He sent me songs, he made a little map to help me find my way around the cemetery. If he saw a rainbow – one of Matthew’s favorite things – he’d call me.”
Susan told the court that she and her family “trusted a man without a conscience” and Matthew had to pay the price.
“He knew Kenny, and so did we, for 25 years,” he explained, “Matthew trusted Kenny. We trusted Kenny. The most important thing Kenny ever did was to be my son’s partner and guardian in the fight against drug addiction.”
Suzanne revealed, “Kenny knew, should he feel unnecessarily pressured, that with one phone call to any number of people in Matthew’s class, reinforcements would be on the way, and his job would be safe.”
But instead of protecting Matthew, she “aided and abetted” his addiction.
The grieving mother said of her son, “Despite everything we went through, he was there for my heart and soul. I am sure that as long as I live, nothing can or will ever take away this pain.”
Friend The star’s former live-in assistant will be sentenced in federal court on May 27.
He faces a statutory maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death.
Matthew Perry, who openly struggled with drug addiction for decades, was found dead in his Jacuzzi on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54.
