Kim Kardashian expressed relief on Instagram Thursday after the execution of a death row inmate in Tennessee was halted.
“God was intervening,” she wrote on her Instagram Story, sharing the news of an inmate who escaped execution due to complications from a lethal injection.
Tony Carruthers Carruthers was convicted of the 1994 kidnapping and murder of three people in Memphis.
His execution was stopped when the medical staff failed to find a suitable vein.
After Tennessee Governor Bill Lee gave her a one-year exemption, Kim Kardashian thanked people for taking the time to call the governor’s office. “I really believe the pressure from all of us helped,” he wrote.
He called the failed procedure outright torture and urged DNA and fingerprint testing of evidence he believes could prove Carruthers’ innocence.
