When a friend of mine told me she was moving from the Midwest to New York, my first thought was, “What are you packing?” If there’s one thing about this city, it’s that it will instantly expose any weak points in your wardrobe. You need pieces that can handle all-day outings, unpredictable weather, and that random formal event you get invited to and can’t afford to miss.

Naturally, I took it upon myself to play stylist. I wanted her to have countless options, so I headed straight to Zara because most 20-something New Yorkers build their entire wardrobe around this site.
