My ideas about wedding guest attire have gone largely wrong. I still get nervous remembering them, but such is life. At one wedding, I wore a dress that definitely fit more American standards of wedding guest attire than British (it was my first UK wedding, long before I moved here, and I wasn’t aware of it). Second, I showed up in the exact same color and material as the bridesmaids and tried to keep my coat on the entire night. I also sent dresses overnight in a panic and I wore black even though it was not well accepted as a wedding guest color.
As I’ve written before, I’m also not a fan of dresses and often look for more interesting, alternative wedding guest outfits. Overall, you are facing a complete disaster. Fortunately, these have been extraordinary lessons learned. Now I’m a big proponent of finding the perfect wedding guest outfit and planning it early.
When you have an idea of wedding guest clothing trends and what the most fashionable people gravitate towards, it’s easy to find a fail-proof option that will make you feel incredibly attractive at a wedding. This summer, there’s a diverse mix. Once you’re aware of the dress code, location, theme, and colors (to wear or not to wear), you can plan and take inspiration from following trends and outfits. They all seem to have one thing in common – providing the right level of energy that definitely stands out without overpowering the couple.
Navy blue is a very rich color. It is just as beautiful as black but is often a safe choice for all weddings.

3. Textured Fabrics
Style Notes: A quick way to find slightly different outfits for wedding guests is to look for materials that will look different on their own. From pleated tea-length gowns to layers of ruffles to burnout textures, it’s no surprise that textured dresses are on the rise when so many shoppers are looking for ways to feel personal to other wedding guests amid a sea of dresses and jumpsuits. If the dress code dictates a specific color, it’s also great to choose a more tactile material.

4.Jumpsuit
Style Notes: If you love the beauty and dynamism of a dress, but you prefer to wear trousers all the way, a jumpsuit is the best outfit idea for wedding guests. While suits often look impeccable, there is something about the fluidity and material that comes with a jumpsuit that feels very romantic. It’s the best of both worlds, and the strapless style is useful for the summer season. If you need more coverage just add a chiffon cape.
