You may have heard of Handel messiahWhich includes this song and many other songs that we find in the Bible. Maybe the music from that rousing speech is playing in your head right now.
Praising God through song is not a good thing to do only from time to time. In this text, singing is shown to be one of the most worshipful things a believer can do. All creation is called to sing to God who is worthy of “praise, honor, glory and power forever and ever.”
In song we can participate in the worship with all our heart. If we are conscious of the words we are singing, our mind is deeply involved in it. If our emotions are affected by music and words, it can feel as if every part of our being is engaged.
I have been able to sing in many choirs. When I’m singing a Christian song with a group of good singers, it can feel like we’re in heaven praising God.
Not all of us are good singers or even interested in music. But we don’t need great voices to praise our Creator and Savior wholeheartedly. We can sing to and for the true God who deserves all honor, glory and praise. And as our song reaches the Lord in heaven, it becomes pure, and renders a sweet sound in His ear.
