Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has set a remarkable target for his career after impressing against top bowling attacks in IPL 2026. The 15-year-old batsman said that he wants to surpass the record set by chris gayle And became the first player in cricket history to score a double century in T20 cricket.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2026. The left-handed batsman has scored 583 runs in 14 matches at an average of 41.64 and strike rate of 232.27. Vaibhav Suryavanshi Made a bold statement about his future batting goals during an appearance on The Switch. Talking to former England captain Kevin Pietersen, this young batsman said that he wants to become the first player to score a double century in T20 cricket.
“I want to score 200 runs in T20. Yes, I want to break his record and score 200 runs. If I play 20 overs in any game, I will definitely break that record.”
Currently the record for the highest individual T20 score is in the name of Chris Gayle. East Royal Challengers Bangalore The (RCB) batsman scored an unbeaten 175 against Pune Warriors India during IPL 2013 and this record remained unbeaten for more than a decade.

The teenage batsman had expressed similar ambitions after his record-breaking performances in youth cricket last year. Suryavanshi said that he wants to bat the entire innings and score as many runs as possible for the team.
“I will try to score 200 runs in the next match. I will try to play the full 50 overs. The more I score, the more the team will benefit.”
This statement came after his explosive innings against England Under-19 cricket team, in which he scored 143 runs. He completed his century in just 52 balls and registered the fastest century in youth ODI history.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already played many explosive innings which shows that a double century may be possible in T20 in the future. Young batsman first scored 190 runs for Bihar Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In the Under-19 World Cup final, where he scored 175 against a quality bowling attack. His highest score in T20 cricket is 144.
