Craig Robinson recalls a memorable act of kindness from Lisa Kudrow.
During his early days on Friends, Craig shared that Lisa stepped in when he felt nervous on set.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the actor recalled a small role in a 2004 episode of the sitcom The One with Princess Consuela, where he played a government clerk helping Phoebe Buffay, played by Lisa, change her name after marrying Mike Hannigan, played by Paul Rudd.
Since Craig was trying to establish himself in Hollywood at the time, he said, “I ended up working with Lisa later on. We actually played a married couple in Table 19. So we got along really well.”
“But at the time, it was almost a scene, there wasn’t really anything else. We rehearsed it twice and then they made a pitch, and Lisa was nice enough to speak for me.”
Recalling that moment on the Friends set, Craig said, “I threw out a line that she heard, but no one else heard. She was like, ‘We have a pitch!’
“And she had to react to it. But it was because of her, because I was there like, ‘I’m a weird dude! What are you talking about?'” he continued.
Later, Craig Robinson reunited with Lisa Kudrow, playing her husband in the 2017 comedy Table 19.
