King Charles pays heartfelt visit to York Hospital.
The monarch made an emotional visit to recognize the inspirational work of staff and patients at the newly-refurbished Sir Robert Ogden MacMillan Cancer Centre.
King, who has served as Patron of Macmillan Cancer Support since 1997, met with healthcare workers, volunteers and local people affected by cancer during the special event.
The official Instagram handle of the British royal family shared pictures from King Charles’s visit. In the caption, the Palace wrote, “Recognizing the inspirational @macmillancancer patients and staff.”
He added, “Patron of Macmillan Cancer Support since 1997, The King visited York Hospital – home to the newly redeveloped Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre.”
He added, “Her Majesty met staff and patients, including local people with cancer experience, who contributed to the design of the centre.”
The caption concluded, “The King also planted a rose bush in the garden, creating a new tranquil space for visitors to enjoy nature during their time at the centre.”
`It comes as King Charles himself is being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer, which was diagnosed in early 2024.
However, his medical team has reportedly confirmed that the monarch is responding exceptionally well, moving his treatment to the “precautionary phase”.
